Welcome to Doggie Dates
Collective
Welcome to Doggie Dates Collective, a community-focused, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the well-being and happiness of dogs and their owners through social interaction and shared activities. Our initiative thrives on connecting dog owners and dog lovers, fostering meaningful relationships and encouraging participation in group walks and social gatherings with their beloved pets. We champion the philosophy that a well-exercised and socially engaged dog is a happy and healthy one, with our activities designed to alleviate loneliness, promote physical and mental health, and cultivate a strong sense of community among dog enthusiasts.
Our Mission
Our Mission is rooted in inclusivity, physical and mental health promotion, and the encouragement of social interaction among people and their canine friends, one walk at a time. Our Doggie Dates events operate across New South Wales, with over 50 walks per week. We offer a variety of walks to suit a range of abilities of people and dogs such as sniffaris, multi-walks, short walks, off-leash romps, and our standard walks. Our volunteer team comprises of more than 50 dedicated Leaders with or without their four legged companions. We provide these events free of charge. We have a range of rules and requirements to promote safety and inclusivity and we welcome all dogs, regardless of their breed, temperament and behaviour.
Impact of Our Walks
Group walks with dogs offer significant social and emotional benefits, uniting individuals from various backgrounds through their mutual affection for dogs. This common interest transcends differences, fostering a platform for socialization, understanding, and the formation of deep connections and lifelong friendships. As participants share stories and experiences, they discover common grounds beyond their love for dogs, creating a supportive and welcoming community. These gatherings not only provide exercise for the dogs but also enrich the lives of their owners by promoting a sense of belonging, acceptance, and empathy, highlighting the power of shared love for animals in building meaningful relationships.
Joining Our Cause
Our Walk Leaders are required to have a Working with Children Check and a Police Check, with minimal costs involved for these verifications. Additionally, a nominal fee covers the uniform necessary for participation. While we have certain expectations regarding volunteer engagement and availability, we ensure training and support to make the experience of being a volunteer impactful.
Volunteer Experience
We value the diverse personalities, preferences, and comfort levels of our leaders and their dogs. Flexibility in participation as a Leader allows for a tailored approach to the various walks, ensuring positive and enjoyable experiences for all. Leaders play a crucial role in facilitating, supporting, and advocating for our participants and their dogs, ensuring smooth and beneficial events.
